Fear, Illusion, Imagination, Bewilderment
The Moon stands for both the call for illusions and the illusions we cast over ourselves. It is both positive and negative, just as the Moon itself wanes and waxes, growing both Light and Dark. It both shows us the way and gets us lost in the night. It is a promise of all our dreams that is both empty and full.
The Fool's Journey
Just after the joy the Fool felt from the Star, he finds himself staring at the Moon. He can feel a beguiling light coming from it. He can see it shifting, waxing and waning all at once. He can see these rapid shifts and notices that the road in front of him grows and splits, creating many paths in front of him as the Moon grows darker. What he also notices is that the other paths disappear as the Moon grows lighter. The Fool sees that while he has grown, he remains susceptible to Illusions cast from any source. Trusting to the light Moon and his experience, the Fool chooses a path to walk. As he does, the sky begins to lighten, calling forth the day.
