This can also be a time to take a long term view on something. It is not a time for a quick fix but something that will ensure things are resolved and building properly.
In the sense of Self-Reliance, it is an extension of the leadership in the card. You are aware of the cliff and the unknown before you and you can freely step into this area. You know what you are moving into and can do so with confidence.
The final meaning, Exploration, comes from the distance that one can see in the card. The figure is looking toward the sea and the boats. This shows the drive to move beyond what is known and toward the unknown.
