The King of Cups is a leader and a guide to be found in the Tarot. He is the quiet person who listens carefully and adds just the right words and touches. He helps all equally and is careful with his words with an aura of peace and confidence.
When faced with a tough situation and the King shows, it is saying, in a sense, that the solution rest in hearing all sides equally. It is a time for listening and setting aside some of your views to learn more about the world. There are certain to be long term rewards for doing such things. The king works for his own reasons which are seldom shown until much later.
When he shows it is a time to work calmly, serenely, through whatever is handed to to. Actions are not so much needed as simply being able to relax through whatever it is. He shows that the solution rest in the eye and not in the chaos of the storm.
As a warning, this card is one of opposing elements. If shown up in relation to you, think carefully where this stands in relation. As one of the court cards, it stands just below the Major Arcana. The active elements of the king conflict with the suit of cups so finding the balance between the two parts is essential to get the most out of this card.
