• The Major Arcana - The Devil

      Meanings:
      Ignorance, Overindulgence, Bondage, Hopeless

The Devil must exist for there to be good. Just as a Shadow is created from Light, so to is Good from Evil and Evil from Good. The Devil shows us when we get caught in the material aspects of the world and forget about the soul and other concerns. It calls us to indulge the body, to become tied to things. It can be when we do not know everything we need to and do not sense this in any way. The Devil also represents a loss of hope, getting lost in our journey through life. This is a card that truly requires careful thought and analysis.

      The Fool's Journey
In the darkness that is slowly growing around him, the Fool comes across the Devil with many figures tied to him. He can see them writhing in ecstasy and feels a longing within himself to join it. Yet, he knows he must continue onwards. The Devil explains by showing the Fool his followers, each has a collar that is more than wide enough for them to easily leave but they choose to remain with him. The Fool meets eyes with the Devil himself and he can feel many things weigh down on him again. He feels hopelessness from within, he feels as though he is losing sight of his goal. The Devil manages to guide the Fool to a pile of stones. He tells the Fool that there is only the material and that he should build a monument to his journey and his learning. The Fool sets to work building his monument. THe night draws slowly closer.
